Changing the Channel

This journey of coaching others is an ever-changing journey or job. Quick recap if you are just now joining me. I have been an RN for 26 years now and a certified ACE health coach for 3 years. I have battled with trying to be a certain size, to be the girl at the top of the pyramid in cheer even though I was an athlete and played basketball, volleyball, track and cheer. Your thinking about how? In a small school, you get to do it all.

The problem with this it leads me to try to lose weight all the time. I was never happy with my body. I tried all the diets you can think of. I committed to the programs. I lost weight. Was ecstatic and thought I would never go back to those double-digit sizes again.

The problem was I never committed to ME. I was always committing to the program. Fixing my thoughts on what I must to do get to a magical stress-free and happy weight or size.

I joined the FASTer Way To Fat Loss as one more attempt to lose weight. I had to this time because my doctor wanted me to start high blood pressure medications and I was pre-diabetic. I also felt like a hypocrite as a health coach educating people to lose weight when I looked this way.

Talk about negative head space with that last thought. But this was me. It has been for years, as far back as 3rd grade. Eating with mom, my aunt, and cousins at Burger Chef, not King, I remember telling mom and my aunt, “I’m full. I ate slower this time.” What 3rd grader says that!!! I had only eaten half the kid’s meal burger, in my mind this was good, that’s what they were talking about, even though I wanted the burger.

I went into the FWTFL program and I will give it a try. I did what I always do when it comes to something new. Focus, learn it and do it. Don’t stray from the rules. It worked just like all the other diets. 6 weeks with amazing results, 12 weeks 33.5 inches gone. I felt amazing.

I could tie my shoe and not hold my breath. My belly was no longer bigger than my boobs, and girls I’m a full C, possible D if it’s a certain brand. The biggest win NO blood pressure meds are needed and no longer pre-diabetic.

Finding my why helped. I do not want to battle the chronic disease as my family does with diabetes. I want to live an active life, carry laundry up the stairs in our beach house, put up Christmas lights, and work in my yard when I am in my 70s and older.

I decided to become a FASTer Way coach because it taught whole foods, it also did not eliminate a food group, plus I could still have treats and adult beverages.

My biggest change has been with mindset. I have let go of the all-or-nothing mindset that was cheating and sabotaging me. What happens when you don’t follow the program for the day, the week the year and you mess up? Where does your mind go?

Do you start the negative spiral of beating yourself up? with thoughts of you can’t do this, you’re a failure, you always give up, you can’t finish anything.

I need you to STOP and CHANGE THE CHANNEL!

This, my friends, is my BIGGEST VICTORY with living the FASTer Way To Fat Loss lifestyle. Losing the all-or-nothing mindset that has been holding me back all these years and loving myself for who God created.

This last year (2020) has been a roller coaster for me and I am sure you too. The thing is, this year my community, the FASTer Way VIP, FASTer Way conference, my FWTFL coach and co-coaches put the cherry on top when we opened up emotional eating and the statement of committing to yourself not the program. People quit or fail because they did not commit to themselves they committed to the program.

I thought about this statement and how I use food as a comfort and calming the same way I use to use nicotine. I have been working on meditation and decreasing my stress in different ways, since September. I listen to podcasts, and my devotionals on the Bible app, and I currently reading “Jesus Over Everything”, by Lisa Whittle. She has shown me more insights into me and how putting Jesus first will help eliminate complications.

When you are in turmoil inside you have to release it and let it go. We are doing reflect, relax and release in the FASTer Way VIP, so good. Then walks in Corinne Crabtree and her bad self, meant with the utmost respect, and Sonya Renee Taylor. The podcast about the book – “The Body is Not an Apology” (on my list of the next book to read) really opened up and discussed loving your body in all sizes. They discussed losing weight and getting to a certain size and still being unhappy. You get the compliments and your comeback is thank you, but I still need to …..

Quit apologizing and dismissing yourself. Start caring for yourself better than you care for others. This is not selfish it is self-love.

When you lose weight you have to lose yourself before you can make it stick. The weight will come back if you do not change your lifestyle, your thinking, and your old self. Invest in yourself not a program.

Learn the program, but invest in the tools, education, and community for yourself. Invest in yourself, to learn to change your mindset. Change the channel in your mind. Start telling yourself sister you are strong, you are beautiful, your family needs you and you are meant to do great things. Don’t give up on yourself. Love who you are. Each day when you do stick to your plan, and your goal you will go to bed with confidence.

I sat down to write in my fitness journal because I am so proud of myself!! I have increased my weights to 60# with dumbbell squats, 45# single leg deadlift, and 25# of dumbbell thrusters. I am not going to list all my increases, sister I started at 5-10# and no weights 2 years ago. You are stronger than you think.

Guess what the quote of the day was in my fitness journal? I have seen and listened to this quote 4 times in the last two weeks; I am telling you God is working to align my writing and life. “If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or objects.” Albert Einstein.

Tie it to your goal, your purpose, your faith, YOU!

“It is a choice only we can make for ourselves, every single day, that will determine how well we live and how far we take our relationship with God.” Lisa Whittle

I am investing in myself to live out my purpose and my way of life. To put Jesus first and follow. I am honored to serve and love others no matter what size or stage of life I am in. I do not have the body of a fitness coach or gym rat, but let me tell you this, I have the body and the heart of a health coach who only wants you to shine, to grow, to learn and to invest in yourself, so you can live out your purpose in life.

Paul’s prayer to the Ephesians, may you see it is also meant for you. Ephesians 3: 16-21. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Are ready to start investing in yourself? To find your purpose? Your why? Let’s chat. Let’s change your channel. God has amazing plans for you. I can not wait to begin your journey with you.
